Transition to TCF v2.2

Transition to TCF v2.2

Sibbo CMP is validated by the IAB Transparency Consent Framework (TCF). This framework is updated periodically to align with regulatory changes and introduce enhancements. Therefore, CMPs must be updated as well to ensure they comply with all legal and technical requirements.

The upcoming update is TCF version 2.2, and the changes it entails must be implemented before November 20, 2023.

What do you need to do as a publisher?

Pre-update considerations

Most of the update will be handled by Sibbo. However, it's important for publishers to communicate their configuration preferences. In cases where the CMP is used for Web, AMP, SmartTV/CTV, or HBBTV, your technical team should also check if the 'getTCData' command is being utilized, as it will become obsolete, as explained at the end of this section.

Configuration Options

Below are the configuration options related to this update:

Vendor List: With this new version, users will be able to see the number of vendors, i.e., the number of companies that might be interested in processing their data, in the first view of the CMP. This information was previously only available if the user accessed the "Vendor List" section. It is recommended to reduce the number of vendors as much as possible. This can be done at any time without needing to relaunch the CMP, as long as no new companies are added.

- Purpose 11: Previously, companies could obtain user consent to process their data based on ten purposes defined by the IAB. The new version introduces Purpose 11, related to personalized content. It is optional. More information can be found here.

Consent Duration: User consent could be stored for a maximum of 13 months. With the update, this limit is extended to 24 months.

Refloat Time After User Rejection: It is also possible to configure the time it takes for the CMP to reappear to a user after they have rejected it.

CMP Display Time (HBBTV only): You can choose how many seconds the CMP will remain on the screen if the user does not interact with it.

If no preferences are communicated regarding the above points, the standard configuration will be applied:

Vendor list
All vendors associated with the respective device
Purpose 11
Included
Consent Duration
24 months
Refloat Time After User Rejection
60 days

'getTCData' command ( Web, AMP, CTV and HBBTV only)

The optional 'getTCData' command will be deprecated with the update, and its replacement is necessary. It's crucial that someone with technical expertise checks if this command is being used in the current CMP implementation. If so, it needs to be replaced following the instructions in this section:

CMP update

Once the previous step is completed, we will provide you with the new scripts (SDK for apps) that need to be implemented following the instructions linked below:

Points to Consider:

The deadline for implementation is November 20, 2023. However, it is recommended to complete it as soon as possible to allow for a margin to provide support in case of doubts or errors.

The update involves re-floating the CMP for all users.

For mobile apps, they will need to be republished.
